But let’s be honest: it’s a rare day when a space looks that perfect straight out of the camera. More often than not, a retoucher has to do battle with a reality that defies even the best styling. The sun ducks behind a cloud at the worst possible second, a cluster of black cables peeks out from under a designer console, and a stubborn crease appears on the curtains just as the shutter clicks. Add to that the chaos of distracting glares on glossy surfaces, harsh color casts from vibrant walls, and dust motes that the camera lens sees far better than the human eye.
